Uganda Named Top Destination to Visit in 2017 by Rough Guides

The United Kingdom top travel and the adventure publisher, the rough guides has also promoted Uganda to number 4 in their top countries to visit list this year 2017. This is also the first time Uganda has made it to the rough guides list and is also one of the two African countries for 2017. Uganda also comes after Canada and Scotland.

The countries pledge to heavy investment in its tourism infrastructure looks set to change this and in 2017, you expect Uganda to view with Kenya and Tanzania for international visitors, drawing more and more tourists with its astonishing wildlife, says the rough Guide. The only other African country to make to the top 10 list is Namibia at No. 9.

This is also a large accolade for Uganda and the additional media coverage on the release of this hot list of where to visit this year is being talked about and will also provide Uganda with additional attention both in the press and also on social media.

Uganda Tourism Board also hosted Rough Guide journalist Keith Drew from 8-15 September 2016. In the course of this farm trip, he visited many of Uganda’s tourist attractions, from which many stories were generated. The farm trip was also organised under Kamegeo, the PR and Marketing firm that represents Uganda in the UK and Ireland.

Uganda as a country has got many tourist attractions including the 10 national parks like Murchison falls national park, Kidepo National park, Queen Elizabeth National park, Bwindi impenetrable National Park, Mgahinga National park, semuliki national park, Lake Mburo National park and Kibale National park.

These national parks have got many animals including the mountain gorillas, chimpanzees, monkeys, birds, leopards, lions, giraffes, hyenas, buffalos, elephants, kobs, antelopes and many more.

The other attractions that led to this rating including; the hot springs in Semliki national park, the mountains that include mountain Elgon national and Rwenzori National park, these encourage hiking as well as mountain climbing safaris. Kidepo national park which is also famous for lots of wildlife including the lions, leopards as well as the elephants.

The main tourist activities carried out with in the country include; mountain climbing, mountain gorilla trekking, chimpanzee trekking, bird watching, hiking, cycling, game viewing, night game drives, boat cruises, nature walks, guided walks, horse riding, community walks, and many more. All the above have put Uganda to the 4th position by the Rough Guides.
